Marcel Hirscher
What would the international ski world cup be without Marcel Hirscher? At least half as exciting. Because the Annaberg native is an exceptional talent whose winning streaks are almost legendary. For the fifth time in a row, he won the overall World Cup in the ski season 2015/2016, setting a world record. He represents the people of Salzburg’s love of skiing like no other!
Marcel Hirscher, skiing legend
Talent, the joy of skiing and a great deal of ambition are the basic requirements to be successful in the sport. This includes the physical and mental fitness but above all discipline, discipline and even more discipline. And a little luck will always play a part. Marcel Hirscher combines all these characteristics and only this is the explanation for five overall World Cup and quadruple world champion wins, three slalom World Cup and two giant slalom World Cup victories. His favourite disciplines are slalom and giant slalom, but he also exceeds in the super-G and super combined.
Marcel Hirscher, the private person
His success is no accident. Already at two years old, little Marcel stood on skis and sped down the slopes, much to his parents’ delight, who as ski instructors are enthusiastic skiers. The Annaberg native’s passion remained and after completing Hotel Management School in Bad Hofgastein, Hirscher turned his hobby into a career.
Ambassador Marcel Hirscher
International top level skiing means that there will be a great deal of travel involved. That’s why the athlete enjoys his home as a retreat but also as a training ground after a long season. He loves SalzburgerLand’s intact nature, its balanced offers and the diverse possibilities for sporting activities.
Hirscher cherishes his home ground, the Lammertal valley. His parents were proprietors of Stuhlalm mountain hut in Annaberg for years. Thus, the two Hirscher boys spent every summer in the midst of the mountains, nature and almost boundless freedom. Naturally, Marcel is drawn back here time and again. Preferably with his girlfriend Laura and cocker spaniel Timon who both love spending time at home in SalzburgerLand as much as the athlete himself.
If you love your home, you will be happy to share the enthusiasm. Therfore, there is currently no better ambassador for SalzburgerLand. “The combination of magnificent mountains, fantastic slopes, exceptional offers and warm hospitality makes my home unique!” Marcel Hirscher loves his country through and through and his fans agree with him. The athlete is a role model for most children and youths in Austria. And if he says that SalzburgerLand is cool, then there must be something to it.
