(E-)BIKE & HIKE WITH A VIEW OF THE GROSSVENEDIGER
The landmark of the Wildkogel Arena is undoubtedly the Grossvenediger. It has fascinated people for centuries and creates a very special atmosphere in the region. This setting is perfect for your next (E-)bike vacation. Even though the glacier world, far beyond 3000 meters, seems unreachable for us mountain bikers, the 800 kilometers of mountain bike routes offer a variety of ways to discover nature from the saddle and reach distant places.
It’s primarily e-mountain bikers who tackle the numerous tours, and thanks to their pedelecs, they master even the steepest climbs effortlessly and enjoyably. But the end of the trail often doesn’t mean the adventure is over. After all, in (e-)bike & hike, the final meters to the peaks are covered on foot. Whether it’s a challenging 3000-meter peak in the National Park or a simpler tour in the Kitzbüheler Alpen – scenic mountain experiences are guaranteed here as well.

CONSTANT COMPANION: THE NATIONAL PARK SUMMERCARD MOBIL
The Nationalpark SommerCard is the secret that gives you boundless freedom in the saddle of your (e-)bike in the Wildkogel Arena. With this handy card, you not only get countless free entries and discounts, but you can also travel daily for free on the Pinzgau Regionalbahn, the SVV Postbus, and two mountain railways, the Wildkogel and the Smaragdbahn, between Krimml, Zell am See, and Rauris, on the mountain and of course also down in the valley on the Tauern Cycle Trail.
Speaking of the Tauern Cycle Trail: The multi-day tour between Krimml Waterfalls and Passau (310 kilometers) promises cycling fun for the whole family. On easy stages, you also pass the most beautiful places in the Wildkogel Arena and can stop wherever you wish.
There is truly much to discover. Glaciers, mighty, imposing peaks, and high valleys. Remote mountain lakes and trough valleys with mountain bike trails right up to the glacier’s edge. Serene ponds and flower meadows swaying in the wind along the legendary Tauern Cycle Trail. And so you never run out of juice or battery, in the Movelo partner region, you can rely on numerous e-bike charging stations and comfortably switch to full power when needed.
WILDKOGEL TRAIL
Not only e-bikers but also mountain bikers appreciate and love the Wildkogel, not least because of the trail that now makes the Wildkogel accessible from all sides. From the Gensbichl Talstation, it leads up to the Wolkenstein Gasthof. Thus, the last gap has been closed, and there is nothing in the way of uninterrupted biking pleasure from Neukirchen and Bramberg up to the Kogel. Thanks to its gentle route, the trail poses no great difficulties and is manageable for experienced mountain bikers and e-bikers even uphill. Along with the panorama into the Hohe Tauern, the many rest-, power-, and lookout-spots along the way are absolute highlights. More info.
OUR TIP: TOUR INTO THE Heubachtal – the VALLEY OF EMERALDS
A beautiful tour that is not too demanding, thus also suitable for kids. Of course, you’ll need a certain level of fitness for the steep climb in the middle of the tour, but soon after, the view towards the end of the valley with the Schwarzkopf rewards you. For those interested, mineral excursions with emerald washing are offered several times a week. Who will be the lucky one to wash the next big gem from the water?
For particularly fit athletes, it’s possible to extend the tour by taking the challenging Noitroi Trail to the Thüringer Hut, situated 820 meters higher, and then further up to the Larmkogel (an additional 800 meters). The way back to the bikes goes over a longer, not particularly steep hiking trail.
