A holiday in Flachau is many things, but definitely not boring. The mountain world in the heart of Salzburgerland is perfect for an active holiday in all its facets. Holidaymakers can also expect typical Austrian hospitality and culinary delights. The idyllic landscape between the Dachstein and Tauern mountains is the most beautiful backdrop imaginable.
Winter in Flachau
If you like skiing and winter holidays, you will love Flachau: Ambitious winter sports enthusiasts, pleasure skiers, freeriders, those returning to the sport and beginners will all get their money’s worth in the home of double Olympic champion Hermann Maier. Flachau live in Ski amadé offers pure skiing pleasure along 12 peaks and 5 valleys. With its wide range of pistes for all ability levels, its internationally renowned snow parks, six ski schools, numerous ski huts and a varied range of hotels and leisure facilities, the winter sports resort fulfils all requirements for perfect skiing and snowboarding enjoyment.
Fun and Action away from the slopes
Variety is also the trump card away from the slopes in Flachau in winter: from a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride to a fast-paced adventure on the Lucky Flitzer Alpine Coaster. From an evening toboggan ride on one of the four floodlit toboggan runs to a fat-bike tour in the snow. And, after a day outdoors, the Thermal Spa Amadé provides relaxation or even more adventure – in the diverse sauna landscape or on the looping slide.
With so much action, the culinary delights should of course not be neglected. Flachau leaves nothing to be desired here – the many regional specialities are particularly recommended.
Flachau is one of the few selected locations in Austria to appear on the calendar of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup (link to: https://www.skiweltcup-flachau.at) every year. Every year in mid-January, a real ski festival with a great supporting programme is held in Flachau on the occasion of the ladies’ night slalom.
Whether on the piste, in the thermal spa or at home with your host – a holiday in Flachau is sure to be unforgettable!
Summer in Flachau
The mountains are as much a part of a summer holiday in Flachau as the modern lifts, the delicious Alpine delicacies and the overwhelmingly beautiful panorama. Embedded in a marvellous mountain backdrop, Flachau offers an ingenious combination of relaxation, exercise, enjoyment of nature and action. The peaks in and around Flachau are between 2,000 and 3,000 metres high and are among the most beautiful panoramic mountains in the whole of SalzburgerLand: for example, the Griessenkar hiking paradise. You can get up there on foot or – even more comfortably – with the Flachau summer lifts. Whether alone or with local hiking guides, on well-marked paths or on entertaining themed trails: The mountains in Flachau are a very special outdoor paradise! Rustic mountain huts, sparkling mountain lakes and refreshing springs are just as much a part of the hiking trails as the cows and horses that spend the summer on the mountain pastures. Guided adventure hikes are offered daily in Flachau, which guests with the Flachau Summer Card can take part in free of charge.
Best bike infrastructure and the mega bike experience “Stoneman TAURISTA”
Flachau is one of the best (e)-mountainbike destinations in SalzburgerLand. In addition to a 700 kilometre MTB trail network and 45 designated routes, guided (e)-mountain bike tours are offered daily in summer. There is a bike competence centre, several (e)-bike rental shops and an MTB technique course. The absolute mountain bike highlight in the region is the Stoneman TAURISTA. The route around Flachau covers 147 kilometres and 4,700 metres in altitude and leads through one of the most beautiful mountain landscapes in the Eastern Alps.
There are also a lot of other activities to try out in Flachau, such as mountain carting, Segway trips, mountain skiing, rafting, river bugging, canyoning, kayaking or stand-up paddling. Wherever possible, these activities are designed to be “child-friendly”. The Alpine rollercoaster “Lucky Flitzer”, two high ropes courses, two swimming lakes and the Amadé thermal spa offer additional fun.
