On 3,029 meters, the Kitzsteinhorn summit is within arm’s reach. It’s here where Salzburg’s highest-situated attraction is located: TOP OF SALZBURG is open year round and directly borders the Hohe Tauern National Park, Alps’ largest nature reserve.
Reaching the high-alpine adventure world doesn’t require any mountaineering skills – TOP OF SALZBURG is the highest point in the state of Salzburg to be easily reachable by cable cars. Two spectacular panoramic platforms, Austria’s highest-situated movie theater “Cinema 3000” and the “National Park Gallery” info tunnel offer breathtaking views of and fascinating insights into the high-alpine mountain world.
TOP TIP › Guided National Park ranger tours provide compelling stories about the flora & fauna as well as history & technology on the Kitzsteinhorn and the Hohe Tauern.
The way from the Kaprun town center to TOP OF SALZBURG leads through four climate zones and holds a top-notch panoramic experience: the ride with the 3K K-onnection – on of world’s most modern and energy-efficient cable cars. The spacious gondolas offer a crystal clear view of the snow-capped summits all the way down to the Zell valley.
On the glacier plateau on 3,000 meters, Austria’s unique adventure area ICE ARENA promises fun and cooling in the glacier snow in July and August. On 2,450 meters, the KIDS-steinhorn adventure playground awaits little ones, and the access point to the first of three challenging freeride trails that lead all the way down to the Maiskogel experienced downhill riders. Wooden water toys motivate kids to play with pure mountain water at the Water Playground Langwied.
There’s much to explore on the Maiskogel family mountain, too – such as the Family & Leisure Park with slides, bouncing castle, climbing walls and much more. A ride on the Maisi Flitzer alpine coaster will make little and big hearts leap with joy. The MK Maiskogelbahn takes everyone comfortably onto the Maiskogel – the ideal access point to numerous hike and bike tours.
