Michelin stars shine on Salzburg’s top chefs

Exploring SalzburgerLand for its exclusive culinary delights

The Austrian culinary industry celebrated the return of the world’s most prestigious restaurant guide to Austria at Salzburg's Hangar-7. There was an additional reason for the hosts to celebrate: during the highly anticipated awards ceremony for the coveted Michelin stars, a total of 17 awards were presented, including five 2-star restaurants, eight 1-star restaurants, and four Green Stars for the best chefs in SalzburgerLand.

The choice of SalzburgerLand as the venue for the event is a testament to the outstanding reputation of Salzburg’s cuisine, as well as the region’s long-standing commitment to the return of the Michelin Guide. SalzburgerLand is home to not only exceptional restaurateurs but also the highest concentration of organic farmers in Europe, who produce high-quality food. For many chefs, this local, seasonal bounty serves as the foundation for their creative dishes, helping to establish SalzburgerLand as a sought-after gourmet destination.

The Michelin Guide represents the highest quality and recognizes the culinary excellence that SalzburgerLand embodies – making it even more visible,” emphasizes Leo Bauernberger, Managing Director of SalzburgerLand Tourismus GmbH. “Culinary enthusiasts around the world follow the recommendations of the international ‘gourmet bible’; for 80 percent of them, regional specialties and a high-quality culinary experience are essential for their travel plans. Alpine cuisine in SalzburgerLand stands for regionality, seasonality, and the strengthening of local economic cycles. I am therefore particularly pleased that restaurants from every region – from the city of Salzburg to Tennengau, Pongau, Pinzgau, and Lungau – have been awarded Michelin stars.
