The Mittersill-Hollersbach-Stuhlfelden holiday region lies between the three thousand metre peaks of the Hohe Tauern National Park and the gentle grassy mountains of the Kitzbühel Alps. For all those who want to enjoy their holiday actively in the great outdoors, the Hohe Tauern National Park offers a varied selection of guided hikes of all levels of difficulty. There are offers for families as well as challenging high mountain tours lasting several days. Pure cycling pleasure awaits all two-wheel fans in this region, whether on the 300 km long Tauern Cycle Path along the Salzach, the picturesque pass and panoramic roads or on the 130 mountain bike tours.
National Park Centre
Summer and winter alike, a visit to the National Park Centre in Mittersill is a worthwhile excursion. The „Nationalpark Welten” bring the unique alpine world of experience around Austria’s highest peak (Großglockner, 3,798m) and another 266 three-thousand-metre peaks, over 342 glaciers and one of the world’s mightiest waterfalls under one roof. An eagle flight panorama lets the viewer glide over the impressive landscapes, valleys and peaks. In the 3D adventure cinema, the formation of the mountains with the formation of the Tauern Window is shown in fast motion.
Winter Highlights
The holiday region offers numerous kilometres of pistes and breathtaking views of the Hohe Tauern National Park landscape. The starting point for ski trips and ski tours is the panorama lift of the Kitzbühel Alps. The individual ski areas are directly connected to each other and so it’s a short trip from Mittersill or Hollersbach directly to the Resterkogel mountain station and the Kitzbühel Alps ski area. From the southernmost entry point there are around 215 kilometres of perfectly groomed pistes, the Hanglalm Snowpark and numerous freeride and off-piste routes with cosy huts and restaurants! The Mittersill-Hollersbach-Stuhlfelden region also offers a wealth of opportunities for cross-country skiers. Beginners and experienced skiers alike will find their favourite routes on the 200-kilometre Pinzga trail, the Blizzard trail, which is floodlit at night, or on the snow-sure Hochmoor trail. If you are looking for the winter sun, the best way to enjoy it is by walking along cleared winter hiking trails, romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides and more.
Tips for events:
- Start the winter in Mittersill first! Already at the end of October we will open the ski operation in the Resterkogel / Resterhöhe area. The “Resterhöhe Special” also provides skiing fun at a top price.
- Mittersill National Park Advent Market: Krampus passes, Advent wind instruments and shepherd players set the tone for the pre-Christmas season. In addition to regional specialities, there are also arts and crafts and participation in the “Living Workshop”.
- New Year’s Eve party in Mittersill: For the perfect party evening in the centre of Mittersill, the DJ provides the right mix.
