The Kaprun high mountain reservoirs at over 2,000 metres are the first stop on this day for the two photographers. Once they reach the top, they are greeted by the autumn and covered by a blanket of fog. Especially in this mystical time of year, Zell am See-Kaprun offers some outdoor alternatives for days out in nature. Jesper and Kenneth have summarised here their favourites:
#1 Walk around the Klammsee Lake
The Klammsee Lake in Kaprun is easily accessible via the Sigmund-Thun Gorge and is worth a trip at any time of year. This reservoir is not only a popular motif for photographers, but also easy to walk around and looks beautiful from any perspective. Tip from the Pros: capture the reflection of the water with cloudy skies!
#2 Drive on the Mitterberg
… and stop at the third curve under the Gasthof Mitterberg. Here, there is the most beautiful photo-spot with a view of Lake Zell and the town of Zell am See-Kaprun. Just get out, press the button and enjoy the view.
#3 Visit Kaprun Castle
A view of Kaprun Castle reminds you of Game of Thrones – only that the castle landscape in the series is by far not as green as in Kaprun. Whether as a photo motif, event location or excursion tip – the castle quickly takes us back to a bygone era and away from the stressful everyday life.
#4 Ride up the Kitzsteinhorn
The Kitzsteinhorn is an absolute must the whole year round when visiting Zell am See-Kaprun. Jesper and Kenneth also want to go back to over 3,000 metres and enjoy the special atmosphere at the “Top of Salzburg”. This glacier is one of the highlights for the two Danes – and the photos are truly mystical!
#5 Climbing on the high mountain reservoirs
A special adrenaline kick is promised by the MoBo107 Via Ferrata on the dam of the high mountain reservoirs in Kaprun. This tour is not for everyone’s nerves – and in fog it takes a particularly big effort. Jesper and Kenneth bravely strap on the harnesses, attach the carabiners to the steel ropes, the Go Pro onto the helmet, and together with a guide climb up the steep passages through the fog screen. Chapeau!
#6 Comfortable hiking to Lake Plettsaukopf
The Plettsaukopf reservoir is the largest of three reservoir lakes on the Schmittenhöhe. From the mountain station of the areitXpress, it can be reached in about 15 minutes comfortable walking. The lake also offers a beautiful photo motif and also comfortable seating to relax and enjoy the view.
#7 Try out the E-Motocross Park on the Schmittenhöhe
Noisy engines, stinking fumes and a lot of vroom? Not here! At the mountain station of the areitXpress, motocross can be tried out on KTM motorbikes – and that on electric motorbikes. This means environmentally friendly motorbiking pleasure on the Schmittenhöhe. For action fans like Jesper and Kenneth, this is an absolute highlight above the rooftops of Zell am See.
