In the summer months, St. Martin in the idyllic Lammertal Valley ensures real pleasure in the Salzburger Alpine summer. Those who love being in the high mountains will treasure the attractive routes in the Tennengebirge. The surrounding mountain pastures are ideal destinations for families and hikers. The quaint, 400-year-old Spiessalm is particularly popular. Renovated in 2003, it has kept its natural character so that the Rauchkuchl is preserved in its original condition. Hikers are pampered here with the delicious home-made cheese.
From here, you can get to the Lammertal primeval forest in under an hour. The hillside location, climatic conditions and the good soil have allowed the largest trees in Austria to grow here. Particularly impressive is the “Lammertal Guardian”, a 48m high and estimated 300-year-old Pine Tree.
Whoever needs a change of pace after long hikes, is well cared for in the St. Martin Lake Park. Walking paths and board-walks lead through the amusement park, 6,700m2 of water invite you to swim, while children love the water slide, the play area and the historical castle.
Insider’s Tip: Right next to the Lake Park the small family ski area of St. Martin is located. This facility is ideal for beginners. A Ski Kindergarten with Snow Carousel, a T-bar lift and a reasonably ambitious slope are ideal for little skiers.
But also off-piste in St. Martin it’s not boring: with ski touring and snowshoe hiking, cross-country skiing, tobogganing and snow tubes. A special experience is a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the Lammer Valley.
