Tennengebirge

The Salzburger Almenweg region

The Tennengebirge region, which includes the holiday communities of WerfenPfarrwerfen and Werfenweng, lies in the heart of Salzburger Land, surrounded by the mountain world of the Hochkönig, Tennen- and Hagengebirge. Aside from its beautiful hiking opportunities, the region is famous for sightseeing attractions that include giant ice caves, Hohenwerfen Castle and bird-of-prey station, the Seven Mills and the State Ski Museum. Culinarily, too, the region is on the tip of everybody’s tongue: Aside from hearty local favorites and knightly banquets at the castle, you will also find top-flight restaurants here. As for accommodations, you can choose between hotels, inns, guest houses, B&Bs, farmhouses and even campgrounds.
