Around 90 kilometers from Salzburg City, in the middle of the Pinzgauer Grasberge mountains, lies the small holiday community of Viehhofen. The village character, along with a 4* hotel, a number of inns, cozy guesthouses and apartments, adds to the unique charm you discover here at the entrance to Glemmtal. A perfectly marked network of trails for bikers and hikers promises unforgettable mountain experiences, while at the Hecherhütte, a hut located above Viehhofen, your hosts will treat you to a mouthwatering selection of local and regional specialties.
Winter in Viehhofen
In winter, you can either easily reach the Schmittenhöhe with the zellamseeXpress or take the free ski bus in five minutes to the entrance of the Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn ski circuit, just four kilometres away. The Viehhofen downhill No. 168, at 7.5 kilometres long, is the longest descent in the entire ski circuit and should not be missed for a perfect day of skiing. It leads directly to the centre of Viehhofen and to the valley station of the zellamseeXpress. In the immediate vicinity of the town you can experience winter adventures such as tobogganing, ice skating, cross-country skiing, curling, horse-drawn sleigh riding, ice-carting, snowshoeing and winter hiking. Don’t miss our weekly program! Every week we go curling, torch-walking and snowshoeing together.
Sports all year round
The quad and go-kart course on the outskirts of Viehhofen provides all-round sports activities, where you can let off steam on selective tracks with hills, bumps and curves, even without any off-road experience. Next to the Glemmerhof Gasthof-Camping there is a beautiful forest course for big and little archers. 28 animal dummies are perfectly integrated into the landscape of the circuit and are waiting for all sharp-shooters. Bows and equipment is available for rent, along with instruction at the training facility and guided archery and trial courses being offered by the archery specialists.
