Zwölferhorn cable car

in St. Gilgen on Lake Wolfgangsee

With the popular red and yellow gondolas, the Zwölferhorn cable car takes its guests barrier-free up to the naturally beautiful Hörndl in 11 minutes. Even during the journey, you can enjoy the marvellous view of the Salzkammergut lake landscape and the fascinating mountain world.

Hiking on the Hörndl

The Zwölferhorn offers numerous opportunities for an enjoyable hike, ranging from an easy circular hike to a challenging mountain tour. With children, it is definitely worth exploring the Zwölfer Runde, which provides plenty of variety along the Pillstein circular hiking trail with its twelve stations and explains exciting natural phenomena and traditional events in a playful way.

Simply relax and take a deep breath

Enjoy nature and draw strength from the peace and quiet – this is the motto behind the program on the sun platform on the Zwölferhorn. Regular yoga sessions held there are designed to clear your head and recharge your batteries. It is also the perfect place for those who simply want to pause for a moment and enjoy the view.

Free as a bird

Take off at 1,500 meters above sea level and have a picture-book backdrop at your feet – the Zwölferhorn offers paragliders an absolute flying hotspot with fascinating, unforgettable views of the lake and mountain landscape of the Salzkammergut.

Up the mountain with solar energy

Using the pure power of nature the Zwölferhorn cable car will be the first cable car in the world to travel up the mountain by solar energy from summer 2024. Thanks to the construction of a photovoltaic system, a direct self-sufficiency level of over 90% will be achieved. From April to September, the gondolas will even float up the Zwölferhorn completely energy-autonomously.
